Antenatal-Postnatal Breastfeeding Support Group  This group is for pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers who would like advice on breastfeeding, and also mothers who wish to share their experiences and ideas to support others.

The Children's Village, Graiseley Lane, Wednesfield on Wednesdays from 10.30am-12.30pm

12 Good reasons to breastfeed your baby!

1.  Most nutritious way to feed your baby - the composition of breast milk changes over time to adapt to a growing baby's needs.

2. Not only satisifies hunger, but emotional needs as well - helps you develop a strong bond with your baby.

3. Reduces your baby's risk of developing childhood illness.

4. Enhances cognitive development - the lower IQs of formula-fed babies are said to be due to poor nutrition.

5. Protects against obesity - breastfed babies regulate their own feedings from the beginning, which helps them develop healthier eating patterns.

6. More easily digested than formula milk.

7. Breastfed babies have better speech development - bottle fed babies often attempt to slow milk flow, which can lead to tongue thrusting problems.

8. Helps shrink your uterus back to pre-pregnancy size.

9. Helps you to lose pregnancy weight - breastfeeding burns an extra 500 calories a day!

10. Reduces your risk of cancer - breast, endometrial or ovarian.

11. More convenient - always fresh, clean, safe and at the right temperature and it's FREE!

12. Breast milk tastes better and breastfed babies have a pleasant smell (especially nappy changing!).
